Privacy policy

The short version: Unscrambly does not ask for any personal details to use the tools, and the letters you type stay on your device. This page explains what we do collect, and how ads and cookies work if they are ever switched on.

Last updated 2026-07-25.

What we collect

Nothing personal. Unscrambly has no accounts, no sign up, and no login. We do not ask for your name, email, or any other identifying detail to use the site.

Your letters stay on your device

The solvers run entirely in your browser. When you first search, your browser downloads a dictionary file once, and from then on all matching happens locally. The letters you enter are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Local storage

We store a single value in your browser: your light or dark theme choice, so the site remembers it on your next visit. It never leaves your device and you can clear it any time through your browser settings.

Cookies, analytics, and ads

Unscrambly does not currently run ads. If display advertising is switched on in the future, it will come from a third-party ad network, for example Google AdSense or Ezoic. Those networks can set cookies or use similar technology in your browser to show ads and measure how they perform. Visitors in the EEA and UK will be shown a consent banner and asked to choose before any personalised ads are served, in line with GDPR and UK data protection rules.

We may also use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages are useful. Depending on the tool chosen, this can involve cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. This page will be updated with the specific ad and analytics partners in use, and links to their own privacy policies, once either is switched on.

Hosting and logs

The site is served as static files by a hosting provider that may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and requested URLs, for security and reliability. We do not combine these with anything else or use them to profile you.

Third-party games

Scrabble, Words With Friends, and Wordle are trademarks of their respective owners. Unscrambly is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page whenever what we collect, or how ads and analytics work, changes. The date at the top always shows the last update.
