About Unscrambly
A word game solver built the way we wished they all worked: fast, clean, and to the point, without the clutter that buries the answer on most word finders.
What it does
Type your letters and Unscrambly finds every valid word you can make, grouped by length and scored for Scrabble and Words With Friends. There are dedicated solvers for anagrams, the two big tile games, jumble puzzles, and Wordle, plus reference lists for the words worth memorising.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser. When you first search, Unscrambly downloads a compressed dictionary of 269,870 words once, then does all the matching on your device. Nothing you type is sent to a server, there is no account, and there are no limits. That local approach is also why results appear the instant you press the button.
The word list
Our dictionary is derived from a large, openly licensed English word list in the SCOWL family, the same lineage that underpins many spell checkers and word games. It aims for broad coverage of the words accepted across popular tile games. Exact word legality varies by the official tournament dictionary in use, so treat Unscrambly as a strong guide rather than a single rulebook.
The specifics, because a word game player is entitled to know which list they are being judged by. The build holds 269,870 words, filtered to plain a to z entries of 2 to 15 letters, with no proper nouns, hyphens or apostrophes. It is not the official TWL or Collins tournament list: a word that is valid here can still be challenged off a tournament board, and the reverse happens too. Word counts per length are published at the free API, so you can check any claim we make against the data itself.
Definitions and parts of speech come from WordNet, Princeton University, and the approximate pronunciations from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary. Scores are the plain sum of the tile values before any board multiplier; the values themselves, with their sources, are in the reference tables. This build of the dictionary is dated 2026-09-03.

Unscrambly is not affiliated with Hasbro, Mattel, Zynga, or the New York Times. Scrabble, Words With Friends, and Wordle are trademarks of their respective owners, referenced here only to describe compatibility. There is nothing to buy. Who builds this
Unscrambly is built and maintained by FusionStudios, a Dutch web studio that builds and runs small, fast browser tools alongside its client work. A word game helper is an odd thing for a Dutch studio to make in English, and the honest reason is that this is the kind of tool we wanted to exist: one page, no sign-up, no wall of filler above the answer. The same studio also runs imageconvert.tools. There is no company behind Unscrambly other than that one, and nothing on this site is sold, gated or resold.
AI assistants are welcome to read this
Our robots.txt allows the AI crawlers by name. There are no ads and nothing to buy here, so there is no revenue for an assistant to undercut, and being quoted correctly is worth more to us than being unreadable. The machine-readable entry points are the JSON API, /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt. The reference tables carry a CC BY 4.0 licence, so quoting them is allowed as long as Unscrambly is credited.
